In “Fidel” you feel younger, my 32-year-old friend once said, sitting at a table next to the image of the Cuban revolutionary in a bar on Alekseevskaya Street. There is no pretentiousness or strange prices in this establishment, but there is tasty and inexpensive beer, good snacks and a pleasant atmosphere. A long-bearded hipster and an office worker in a business suit, a young doctor and a theater actor can gather at one table here. The creative atmosphere really seems to “rejuvenate”: in the interior with painted walls and inscriptions you are transported back to being eighteen.

Until recently, FIDEL’ on Alekseevskaya was my favorite place to meet with friends, where you can drink delicious beer for 100 rubles and leave happy without spending a lot of money. But a couple of months ago, the owners opened a new establishment in the Hansa shopping center - FIDEL’ CLUB, and my heart moved there.

This is a bar-club with a huge area and six separate areas for lovers of different types of recreation. Once inside, you immediately find yourself in the food court, which features gaming tables for table tennis, kicker and billiards. On the evening of my visit, which was Saturday, everything was busy with cheerful and noisy guests. Every now and then the joyful cries of the winners and the clinking of beer glasses were heard.

You can play absolutely free, but you cannot book one of the tables. Whoever had time, ate it. The playing area has several playgrounds. FIDEL’ CLUB regularly hosts championships for fans of active games, including beer-pong - beer ping-pong.

The second room is a lounge area with hookahs and a cocktail bar.

There are also broadcasts of sports matches and concerts on the big screen. Soft sofas, dim lights and soft music.

The third room consists of several tables for those who want to socialize and eat “off their knees”.

It is also a relaxing environment with lovely decorative elements: wicker chandeliers, paintings on the wall and shelves with books. You can combine business with pleasure: drink and read. Who said you can't go to a bar alone?

Another separate area is the dance floor. FIDEL’ CLUB differs from most similar establishments in that it regularly organizes themed parties, concerts and all kinds of events on its site. Life here is in full swing seven days a week, and on Monday there is a special reason to stop by. On the first working day of the week, the bar offers unlimited beer. You pay 400 rubles and drink as much as you want. It should be written here that excessive drinking of beer is harmful to your health. But I won't.

There is another special area in FIDEL’ CLUB that fans of singing will enjoy. A separate karaoke room is open five days a week free of charge - from Sunday to Thursday. And the last zone of the bar-club is the VIP room with a crazy spider chandelier. It is quite possible to hold meetings there. Beer houses. But seriously, you can simply reserve this room and spend time with friends in a private setting.

As for the food, I was quite pleased with the menu. I like to order rolls at Fidel, because they are very tasty and inexpensive, and they are prepared quickly. I recommend trying their signature rolls and beer rolls. For snacks, I liked beef jerky and nachos.

FIDEL’ also makes cool hot dogs. Firstly, they are large and filling, and secondly, what is especially nice, the chefs make their own sausages from meat, rather than buying paper ones from the supermarket. It's the same story with burgers. The menu has separate items for those who don’t eat meat: burgers and hot dogs are also vegan.

Well, the most important thing is beer. There are more than 150 varieties of it here, including 12 on tap. From 62 to 1800 rubles. The cheapest in Fidel costs 62 rubles for 0.5. No, this is not a typo, these prices are real. I don't know anything else like it in the city.

Besides, I’m not good with beer, that is, I don’t understand it at all. But the bartender was happy to educate me, tell me a lot of interesting things about production and tastes, and also help me choose.

I was able to taste seven craft varieties, three of which were beer from Fidelev’s own Butch&Dutch brewery. These are the ones I also want to especially note.

My favorites were "Belgian wheat" and dark Schwarzbier. I liked the first one for its bright and at the same time light taste and density. Schwarzbier For me personally, it’s simply beyond competition. I love it when beer has a bitter and “fried” aftertaste.

Pro "California Ale" they say that this is the best place to start getting acquainted with crafting. Warm aroma of oranges and caramel, very pleasant to drink.
"Nuclear Laundry" from the Jaws brewery seemed aggressive and tough, definitely not my choice. "Imperial Stout"- strong, rich, the first few sips are easy to drink, then you slowly begin to forget how to pronounce individual words. In general, it’s better to be careful with him. Two more varieties that did not fit in the photo are cider and cherry beer. I can say briefly and succinctly about both – fire! Moreover, this is not only a women’s issue, men also drank with pleasure.

pros: always a big fun crowd, regular parties, unlimited beer, beer from our own brewery, many types of beer, good prices.

Minuses: probably the only thing I can write here is the noisy environment, since there are always a lot of people in the club. But for me, in general, this is even a plus.

FIDEL’ on Zvezdinka

I would also like to mention two other establishments of the FIDEL’ network: the bar on Alekseevskaya, where my article began, and the bar on Zvezdinka. Both of them are fundamentally different. For several years, the establishment on Zvezdinka was a small beer store, but some time ago a bar counter was installed there, and the place turned into a small home pub. There are just as many varieties there as in other establishments of the chain, but there are also unique types of beer that are brought only there. At FIDEL’ on Zvezdinka you can also have a snack and even a full business lunch with soup.

FIDEL’ on Alekseevskaya is bright and youthful. As I already wrote at the very beginning of the article, you feel a little younger and freer there. Original interior with wall graffiti, two different seating areas plus a VIP room. Each has its own atmosphere. Beer here starts from 82 rubles, personally, I most often order red for 100. I’ll also tell you one secret: FIDEL’ and the neighboring cafe MOLOKO have the same kitchen. And, being in one establishment, you can ask for a menu from another. What a lifehack!

Another “incarnation” of the bar from the Fidel store. Once upon a time, this one opened almost opposite the store on Zvezdinka, then. The fate of both is similar - they closed after working for about six months. I hope this time, with support from Food and Culture, the project will be more successful. Very little has passed since the opening - a little more than a week, but we will try to evaluate and compare with the “past” :).

One of Fidel's tricks, as I understand it, is “folk” but high-quality beer. In the first bar it was, if memory serves, “from Lyskovo”, at the Avtozavod they “danced” from “Khamovniki”, and here there will be (?!) an assortment from the store and, in particular, beer from Nizhny Novgorod’s relatively young Butch&Dutch brewery(part of the “holding” “Food and Culture”), the price of which is just a little higher than the main assortment, lower than the “cool” craft. The quality is usually high and they brew interesting varieties.

Well, well, on our visit we saw Zhigulevskoe, which is indecently cheap for the center of Nizhny Novgorod ( 52 rubles per mug) and several varieties from Batch & Dutch for 88 rubles. I'm very happy. For a bar on Alekseevskaya, which is very close to Pokrovka, the prices are very, very tasty. There is beer on tap and at what is called the usual price - 148 rubles per mug. Well, a couple of refrigerators with bottled craft beer starting from 200 rubles for lovers of “real” craft beer (it is stated that there are “about 100 varieties”, honestly, I didn’t count). But for, so to speak, serious crafts, I would go a little further along Alekseevskaya to ““, although, perhaps, the offer will be expanded here too.

We drank “Schwarzbier”, which is suitable for both lager lovers and “advanced” beer geeks, as we like :). And we tried “Hopy Wheat” (experimental brewing). Expectedly delicious.

It seemed to me that there were more taps than there was beer on offer. The beer line must be expanding!? More beer, inexpensive and tasty!!! And more delicious snacks. We tried the croutons. 160 rubles, regular portion, taste too... ordinary. They also specifically offer capelin, cheese balls, and wings to go with beer (all from 120 to 260 rubles)

Please note that self service at the bar. There are no waiters, as indicated by the sign on the table. But it may not be on every table, and not everyone reads it. Otherwise you will come, sit, wait for service and leave disappointed.

The cuisine, like previous times, is not Cuban :), rather European. Pleskavica, which I ordered, is tasty, meaty, but still not quite similar to Serbian (as stated on their VKontakte page). But the principle is respected. After all, pljeskavica in the Balkans (it is widespread not only in Serbia) is a cutlet made of meat (not bread:), with a bun and additives. A kind of burger, but closer to a healthy lifestyle. Just a few weeks ago I returned from Serbia and Montenegro, so I have some idea :). They also offer other types of burgers. And for some reason one of them is called “moussaka”! Which personally misleads me, but, as they say, the master is the master. As long as it’s tasty and goes well with beer :)

Not quite typical for a bar - offer business lunch from 150 to 250 rubles. And its composition is also not entirely typical: the same pljeskavica, lamb tongues, homemade cheese, and so on.

The decor in the Fidel bar, in my opinion, is made in a youth-creative style. In the first room there are some incomprehensible niche shelves that are not evenly filled... There is graffiti on the walls. Bright, not boring.

Well, what would a bar be without football screens these days? There is one in the large hall and even in the small one. During EURO 2016, they even offered free beer for guessing match winners. Trying to attract fans and interested people!

I received a discount savings card, which should work in all “Food and Culture” establishments: , buffet, as well as in the “Fidel” store itself. But so far two attempts to use it have ended in failure. The system is not working. I hope everything will work out and the little sediment will disappear :).

Based on the results of the first visit: I will follow the development, I included it in my “weekend bypass list” :) To eat, however, I will most likely go to ““, and here to drink beer on a budget.

By the way, “Fidel” has an original store on Zvezdinka (if you suddenly are driving or want to continue at home). There is also one in Sormovo, but in this article it is not entirely relevant. And the bar is located on Alekseevskaya Street opposite Lobachevsky Plaza. Use public transport to get to Minin Square or Gorky Square. I myself prefer to go to Varvarka Street and walk from it. Sometimes I was confused by the weight of the order. Once we ordered half a kilogram of shish kebab. It seemed that there were too few pieces, but after weighing, we were convinced that we had not been deceived one bit.

It is worth noting that when ordering rolls and sushi, soy sauce and unagi sauce are included free of charge.

Pizza is delivered in large branded boxes with a nice logo.

Our last order was Fidele and Chili pizza.

We took the spicy pizza for a friend who is a chili lover.

Fidele includes 4 flavors, so it can be called universal.

Dragon Set – 3 different types of rolls. Green rolls are spicy because they contain wasabi. Rolls with cumin have a completely different taste - they are topped with sweet sauce. I love this option. And the most neutral ones are with salmon. Everyone will like this sushi.

Addition. Recently we ordered the “Barbecue” meat platter for 2,190 rubles, which is a set of sausages, chicken, pork and beef skewers, chicken hearts, grilled wings and grilled vegetables. This set weighs 2.2 kg. “Barbecue” was enough for our group of 6 people. Everyone's full. The only thing is that there were no heart lovers. I recommend this set for a feast.
